“Life is a challenge; accept it and go.”
– the last two lines of my dad’s birthday card to me. It’s worth repeating.

Why I won't be getting the Kindle...yet. →
Recently I’ve been debating on investing in the Kindle, Amazon’s e-reader. Fiscally, it makes sense; I’m an amazon.com book-ordering junkie with no signs of stopping. Even with the impressive online discounts, I still end up spending more than I should have. E-books are cheap (though the kindle itself isn’t), but my birthday is coming up so the chance that I’ll be...

The Hate Man →
He has crafted a persona he says is modeled after Jesus, except that he says “fuck you” instead of “I love you” and dispenses cigarettes instead of miracles.

40 days & 40 nights
Tara gave up drinking for lent. Hoda gave up cigs. What did I give up?  Dried apples. And I’m probably having a harder time with it than either of them.  What will it mean when I can’t make it all 40 days?   Rejection from the church? (Joke’s on the church, I rejected it long ago.) Addiction?  (Probably.) Eh, at least it’s not crack.

“So raise your glass if you are wrong in all the right ways. All my underdogs,...”
– I know, I know. The tristate area radio stations have completely ABUSED this song (for many months, now), but I can’t help it - each [and every] time I hear it, I’m immediately brought back to a night at The Ritz (not the fancy hotel, but a bass-bouncing Hell’s Kitchen boy cove)...

Tristate radio stations are song-abusers. The end.
A review of my day, musically: “Firework” (Katy Perry) - heard 7x “Raise your Glass” (Pink) - heard 6x “Grenade” (Bruno Mars) - heard 6x “Dynamite” (Taio Cruz) - heard 5x “Tonight” (Enrique Iglesias) - heard 5x I need an ipod connector cord, stat. Also, not sure what to make of the fact that 3 of those 5 songs are titled after...

Gays don't doom nations, funeral picketers do. →
Just read this NPR article about a recent supreme court ruling which protects assholes like Rev. Fred Phelps & his mind-warped minions who have trekked the country for years, picketing hundreds of military funerals in proclamation against the slowly-strengthening US tolerance of homosexuality, particularly [GASP!] in the military. In Phelps’ words, “the whole country is given over...
